The President signed Federal Law On Amending Certain Legal Acts of the Russian Federation.
The Federal Law amends a number of legal acts of the Russian Federation that regulate relations pertaining to the preservation of Lake Baikal.
In particular, the amendments deal with establishing the boundaries of the water and fish protection zones, government records of facilities that have a negative impact on the Baikal environment, and the construction and reconstruction of economic facilities in the environmental zone of this natural territory.
In addition, the Water Code of the Russian Federation, the Urban Planning Code of the Russian Federation, Federal Laws On Environmental Expert Assessment and On Fishing and the Preservation of Marine Biological Resources have been brought into compliance with the amendments to the Federal Law On the Protection of Lake Baikal.
