Presidential Aide and State Council Secretary Igor Levitin chaired, via videoconference, the third meeting of the working group for the preparation of the State Council Presidium on the development of inland waterways in the Russian Federation.
Astrakhan Region Governor Alexander Zhilkin, who heads the State Council working group, updated the meeting participants on the preparation of a report for the upcoming State Council Presidium meeting.
Deputy Transport Minister and Director of the Federal Agency for Sea and River Transport Viktor Olersky presented the draft report of the working group on the current state of Russia’s inland waterways, existing problems and proposals for resolving them with due regard for the interests of various industries.
The meeting was attended by Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Central Federal District Alexander Beglov, Rostov Region Governor Vasily Golubev, Nizhny Novgorod Region Governor Valery Shantsev, Yaroslavl Region Governor Sergei Yastrebov, federal and regional executive officials, and representatives of public organisations and the expert community.
The meeting participants approved the draft report in general, noting that a comprehensive solution to existing problems would enhance the effectiveness of the use of Russia’s inland waterways.
