Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings to the delegates, organisers and guests of the 8th Nevsky International Ecological Congress in St Petersburg.
The message reads, in part:
“Over the years, this traditional forum has won high prestige and acclaim and has become a major event in the public life of Russia and other countries.
It is important that you invariably discuss the most significant and acute issues regarding environmental protection and nature conservation activities. These discussions result in practical recommendations and proposals, including those in the area of international cooperation.
I expect that this year, which has been proclaimed the Year of the Environment and the Year of Specially Protected Natural Territories in Russia, you will focus on the introduction of green technologies, the reclamation of polluted territories, the reduction of negative anthropogenic impact on nature and a switchover to a sustainable development model.”
