Ruslan Edelgeriyev, Advisor to the President and Special Presidential Representative on Climate Issues, chaired a regular meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group on Climate Change and Sustainable Development at the Presidential Executive Office.
The meeting participants discussed the results of the Russian delegation’s participation in sessions of subsidiary bodies of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Paris Agreement (Bonn, Germany, May 2018; Bangkok, Thailand, September 2018). The participants also shared opinions on preparations for the Russian Federation’s parallel events on the sidelines of the 24th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (Katowice, Poland, December 3–14, 2018), specifically, the exhibition Russia’s Green Mosaic. Green Energy. Green Science. Green Future and the roundtable discussion Russian Investment for Transition to Low-Emission Development.
Additionally, the meeting covered information presented by the Russian Ministry of Economic Development on progress on the action plan to ensure greenhouse gas emission reduction to below 75 percent of the 1990 level by 2020, on the drafting of a federal law on state regulation of greenhouse gases and the development of a national plan for adapting to adverse climate change.
