The President signed the Federal Law On Amendments to Article 15 of the Federal Law On the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Russian Federation and Article 26 of the Federal Law On Fishing and Preservation of Aquatic Biological Resources.
The Federal Law prohibits the commercial and inshore fishing for cetaceans.
The Federal Law further envisages imposing restrictions on cetacean fishing in the exclusive economic zone of the Russian Federation, including the prohibition and closure of fishing for certain marine mammal species in order to preserve these species.
