Agreement between Russia and Belarus on unified communications system for the regional group of troops has been submitted to the State Duma for ratification

Dmitry Medvedev submitted the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus on Creating a Unified Communications System for the Regional Group of Troops (Forces) of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, to the State Duma for ratification.

The document establishes a regulatory framework for the two sides’ coordinated operations for ensuring the management of the regional group of troops of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation. It also outlines a unified system of views and approaches to coordinated communication planning for the regional group of troops.

The sides are to create a unified system of communication for regional grouping of troops, represented by organisational and technical unification of some of the Russian Federation and Republic of Belarus’ forces and means of communication, and intended to ensure exchange of all forms of information in the management system for regional groups of troops.

The agreement was signed in Moscow on January 19, 2008.
