Dmitry Medvedev signed Executive Order On Appointments to and Releases from Armed Forces Posts.
The Executive Order appoints Colonel General Valery Gerasimov commander of the Russian Central Military District and releases him from his duties as deputy chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.
Colonel General Alexander Postnikov-Streltsov has been appointed deputy chief of the Russian General Staff and released from his duties as commander-in-chief of the Russian Ground Forces.
Colonel General Vladimir Chirkin has been appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Ground Forces and released from his duties as commander of the Central Military District.
The Executive Order also releases Colonel General Alexander Zelin from his duties as commander-in-chief of the Russian Air Force and dismisses him from service in the armed forces.
