Vladimir Putin will visit the Armed Forces Central Command Centre on June 6.
Mr Putin will look over the Central Command Centre’s work and take part in a video linkup to the new Voronezh-DM early warning radar station in Armavir. The new radar will be put on combat duty during the linkup. The radar station was built in order to give Russia comprehensive radar coverage of the southwest and southeast directions from which potential missile threats could come.
The Voronezh-DM early warning radar station has better technical and tactical features than previous generation stations. Three other Voronezh-DM radar stations have already been installed in Leningrad, Kaliningrad and Irkutsk Regions.
Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu will brief the President on completion of putting in place the headquarters and operational command of the Russian permanent operational naval group in the Mediterranean, in line with the decision taken in March 2013. Mr Putin and Mr Shoigu will hold a videoconference with the Mediterranean naval group’s command.
