Vladimir Putin sent greetings to the current and former personnel of Russia’s Ground Forces on the occasion of their professional holiday, Ground Forces Day.
The message reads, in part:
“Throughout their history, ground troops have played an essential role in securing the defence capability of our state, reliably guarding the sovereignty and independence of our Fatherland, protecting our nation’s integral right to peaceful life and constructive work. The courage and bravery demonstrated by our soldiers and officers during major battles will always be part of Russian history. It is in these battles that the power and glory of Russian weapons were forged and combat brotherhood traditions were strengthened.
It is important that today’s ground troops strive to live up to their predecessors and veterans, demonstrating martial excellence, patriotism, loyalty to the oath and duty. They have compellingly exhibited these qualities during the special military operation. Several divisions of the ground troops earned the highly respected title of guard troops.”
