The President signed an Executive Order On Awarding an Honorary Designation to the 11thRed BannerAir Force and Air DefenceArmy.
For mass heroism and courage, fortitude and bravery shown by the army's personnel in combat operations to defend the Fatherland and state interests in armed conflicts, the President resolved to award the honorary Guards designation to the 11th Red Banner Air Force and Air Defence Army which shall henceforth be referred to as the 11th Guards Red Banner Air Force and Air Defence Army.
