President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Comrades, friends,

I extend my congratulations to the personnel and civilian staff of the Border Guard Service of the Federal Security Service of Russia on their professional holiday – Border Guards Day. Special words of gratitude and the warmest wishes are reserved for the veterans and all those who have dedicated their lives to the protection of the frontiers of our Motherland.

The legendary traditions of your service have been forged and strengthened throughout the millennium-long history of our Fatherland, since the times of Ancient Rus’, by generations of courageous and valiant warriors our country is proud of.

We will always remember those who were the first to confront the enemy, like the border outpost soldiers in June 1941. Their immortal, collective heroism became one of the symbols of the people’s resistance – a truly Patriotic War – and a harbinger of the Great Victory.

The immortal glory of the victorious generation inspires us today, enhancing our strength and resolve to defend the interests of our Fatherland, its security and territorial integrity, to fight for truth and justice, and for peace on our native land.

During the special military operation, units of the Russian Federal Security Service’s border agencies have repeatedly demonstrated heroism and honour in executing complex and critical missions, and today they continue to operate with the same professionalism, resilience, and fearlessness.

I am confident that our border guards will continue to achieve remarkable results in all areas of their work – repelling any threat, preventing attempts to violate the state border, thwarting sabotage and terrorist incursions, uncovering and dismantling drug trafficking channels, illegal migration, and smuggling – and, of course, fostering effective cross-border cooperation and integration ties with our partners.

I wish you success, happiness, and good health for your families. Thank you for your honest and faithful service to the Motherland and our people.
