During his trip to the Northwestern Federal District, the President visited the Naval Cathedral of St Nicholas and the frigate Admiral Grigorovich in Kronstadt.
At the Stavropegial Naval Cathedral of St Nicholas, the President was greeted by the Father Superior who conducted a quick tour. Vladimir Putin kissed the icon and relics of Saint Nicholas the Miracle Worker and lit up memorial candles.
The Supreme Commander-in-Chief also visited the frigate Admiral Grigorovich of the Black Sea Fleet. The President wrote an entry in the book of honorary guests and thanked the crew for their service. He also granted the ship’s commander the title of Captain 2nd rank.
Vladimir Putin has been briefed on the completion of the recent combat mission in the Mediterranean Sea, during which the ship covered over 87,000 nautical miles in 607 days, convoying vessels and carrying out reconnaissance tasks. The President also thanked the sailors for detecting and successfully repelling a night drone attack. The frigate has called at Kronstadt for technical maintenance and to give the crew shore leave.
