Meeting of Anti-Corruption Council Presidium

Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Ivanov chaired a regular meeting of the Presidium of the Presidential Council for Countering Corruption.

During the meeting, the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Crimean Federal District Oleg Belaventsev, the Head of the Crimean Republic Sergey Aksyonov and Sevastopol Governor Sergei Menyailo presented information on the work of government bodies in the regions of the Russian Federation within the Crimean Federal District to counteract corruption and on ways to enhance the efficiency of these efforts.

Mr Belaventsev stressed in his report that in line with Russian Federation legislation, the Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol have created the necesary organisational and legal bases to resist corruption. Thus, they have passed corresponding normative acts and formed units responsible for the implementation of measures to combat corruption.

Within the framework of combatting corruption, criminal proceedings for the crime of corruption have been launched in the Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol against representatives of legislative, executive and municipal bodies of power; a number of ministers in the Crimean Government and several members of the Sevastopol Government have been releived of their duties.

For the first time work was done in the regions of the Crimean Federal District to ensure the publication by government officials of information on their own incomes, expenses, properties and liabilities, as well as those of their spouses and under-age children.

Deputy Labour and Social Protection Minister Lyubov Yeltsova spoke of the organisational and legal bases for resolving conflicts of interest between individuals holding positions in the Russian Federations government.

Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky informed the meeting participants of the efforts to develop a negative attitude to corruption in society.
