Vladimir Putin signed Federal Law On Amendments to the Federal Law On Communications.
In order to protect national interests when integrating with international information and telecommunications systems, the Federal Law gives the Government of the Russian Federation the power to determine the regime governing the use of foreign satellite systems (networks) in Russian territory.
The Government also receives the power to determine the regime for the international legal protection of the assignment (allocation) of radio frequencies or radio frequency channels for various radio electronic devices. This includes work to register radio frequencies or channels, and the corresponding positions of satellites in geostationary orbit or other orbits.
