Vladimir Putin signed Federal Law On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation to Specify Procedures for Processing Personal Data in Information and Telecommunication Networks.
The Federal Law is aimed at improving procedures for processing personal data of the Russian Federation citizens in information and telecommunications networks.
When dealing with personal data of Russia’s citizens, personal data operators are responsible for using only those databases that are located on Russia’s territory and specifying their location.
The law establishes procedures for limiting access to information processed in violation of Russian legislation concerning personal data.
