Vladimir Putin signed Federal Law On Amendments to Federal Law On the National Population Census.
In order to enhance the completeness and reliability of information obtained during a census and in addition to the existing methods of collecting information about the population, the Federal Law provides for the use of information and telecommunications networks of general use, including the internet.
The Federal Law also provides for the compulsory conduct of selective federal statistical monitoring (population microcensus).
