Dmitry Medvedev signed Federal Law On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation in Connection with the Adoption of the Federal Law On Protecting Children from Information Harmful to Their Health and Development.
The law amends the law of the Russian Federation On the Media, Federal Laws On the Basic Guarantees of Children’s Rights in the Russian Federation, On Advertising, On Information, Information Technologies, and the Protection of Information, and the Administrative Offences Code of the Russian Federation.
The law is aimed at protecting children from information that may be destructive or traumatizing to their mental health, from an overabundance of cruelty and violence in the openly accessible media, from information that can lead to the development of vicious propensities in a child or give a child a distorted outlook and an improper mindset on life.
