Dmitry Medvedev signed Federal Law On Amendments to Article 22 of the Federal Law on Basic Guarantees of the Rights of the Child in the Russian Federation and Federal Law On Amendments to the Federal Law On Basic Guarantees of the Rights of the Child in the Russian Federation and Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation Following the Institution of a Post of the Russian Federation Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights.
The first law contemplates preparation of a state report on the situation of children and families with children, and specifies the requirements to report’s composition, order of its development, distribution, and submission for public discussion, as well as presentation of results of such public discussion to the Government of the Russian Federation.
The second law is aimed at granting the Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights and children’s rights ombudsmen in the regions with a set of rights allowing them to carry out their duties more efficiently.
