Vladimir Putin will take part in a number of events in Sochi on June 2 to mark International Children’s Day.

The President will present the Order of Parental Glory to parents of large families from nine different Russian regions. The decoration is awarded to parents and adoptive parents of seven or more children for services to strengthening the institution of the family and raising children.

Mr Putin will also visit the festival From A Sports-loving Family to Olympic Victory, in which teams from the big families awarded the Order of Parental Glory decoration will take part. The sports festival, which aims to promote a healthy lifestyle, will take place at one of Sochi’s Olympic facilities.

The President will also meet with participants in the 45th anniversary annual national chess tournament for school teams, Belaya Ladya, which is taking place in Sochi. Seventy-two teams featuring more than 300 children from right across Russia, from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka and also from Crimea and Sevastopol, are competing in this year’s tournament.
