Vladimir Putin visited the Dima Rogachev Federal Research Centre for Paediatric Haematology, Oncology and Immunology.
The President visited the children’s haematology, intensive care and therapy, blood transfusion and stem cell departments, the surgical department, and the Church of the Holy Martyrs Vera, Nadezhda, Lyubov and their Mother Sofia. Mr Putin also met with children receiving treatment at the centre and their parents.
The Dima Rogachev Centre is the biggest specialised high-tech research and treatment centre of its kind in the world for treating children with blood, oncological, and immunological diseases. The decision to build the centre was taken in 2005, when Mr Putin met with Dima Rogachev, a 10-year-old boy who had leukaemia. His name was subsequently given to the centre.
As well as offering advanced technology treatment, the centre has inpatient and outpatient departments that develop and use internationally certified methods for treating blood diseases, malignant tumours, immune system disorders and other serious diseases affecting children.
