Maria Lvova-Belova held a meeting of the Federal Children's Public Council

At the initiative of the Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights Maria Lvova-Belova, the first meeting of the Federal Children's Public Council took place in Moscow on May 11–13.

The event was organised with the support of the Moscow social development service and was attended by children and their mentors from 82 constituent entities of Russia, as well as from the DPR. The meeting programme included communication with experts, project work, trainings, workshops, team-building, cultural and entertainment events, tours to innovative sites and getting to know the capital’s socially significant institutions.

Representatives of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, Ministry of Culture, and Moscow Mayor's Office took part in panel discussions. The participants addressed ensuring the safety of children, a barrier-free environment and the availability of summer recreation for children with disabilities, school self-government and volunteering, as well as bullying, including on the internet. Special attention was paid to career guidance and the employment of adolescents.

The meeting participants supported the initiative Letter to a Soldier, by Natalya Karpovich, head of the regional public organisation Association of Moscow Large Families, and they handed over 3,500 letters to participants in the special military operation in Donbass.

The Federal Children's Public Council is an advisory body under the Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights, established to involve children in discussions about issues affecting their interests. It includes the chairmen of children's public councils under the children's rights commissioners in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
