Maria Lvova-Belova visited Vladimir Region

December 23, 2024

Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights Maria Lvova-Belova visited the Vladimir Region as part of a nationwide inspection of the system for the prevention of social orphanhood. During her visit, the Commissioner held a working meeting with the regional governor and participated in an expanded meeting with heads of agencies and institutions of the child neglect and juvenile delinquency prevention system.

The nationwide inspection of the system for the prevention of social orphanhood was initiated in the Year of the Family under the President’s instructions. Its goal is to support parents in raising their children themselves, with no outside help, establish a family assistance framework in the regions, and redirect funds and resources to aid families in crisis.

Maria Lvova-Belova shared the inspection’s recommendations with Vladimir Region Governor Alexander Avdeyev, highlighting the region’s significant potential, efforts of family curators, and measures provided for assistance in crisis situations. However, she noted a lack of interdepartmental cooperation and unified coordination in the region’s efforts.

During an expanded meeting with heads of the regional agencies of the system for the prevention of social orphanhood, the Commissioner gave a series of recommendations.

Maria Lvova-Belova also visited the Karl Liebknecht Children’s Home and the Social Rehabilitation Centre for Minors in Vladimir, where she held a personal reception of citizens. The Children’s Rights Commissioner also met with incarcerated mothers at the branch of the Children’s Home of the Medical Unit No 33 of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Vladimir Region.
