The President called seven-year-old Igor Stepanenko from the Moscow Region, who was a participant in the New Year Tree of Wishes charity event. Vladimir Putin helped the boy’s dream come true: to visit the World Ocean Museum and Reserve in Kaliningrad.
Igor travelled to Kaliningrad with his parents and older brothers for a three-day visit.
On January 5, at the World Ocean Museum, the boy visited the Vityaz research vessel and the compartments of the B-413 submarine, and also took the helm of the Mir-1 deep-sea manned submersible simulator. In addition, Igor took part in an experiment studying amber inclusions and saw a skeleton of a sperm whale, one of the largest among museum collections worldwide.
The day before, Igor and his family visited Kant Island (Kneiphof) and the historical fortress Fort XI Dönhoff, and attended a New Year water acrobatics show. Several more events are planned for January 6, including a visit to the Kaliningrad branch of the State Tretyakov Gallery and a walking tour of Zelenogradsk.
Igor shared his impressions with Vladimir Putin during a telephone conversation. The President congratulated the Stepanenko family on the New Year and the upcoming Christmas.
