Congratulations on India’s Independence Day

August 15, 2011

Dmitry Medvedev sent a message of congratulations to President of India Pratibha Patil and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the country’s national holiday, Independence Day.

The President said, in particular, in his message:

“Your country is showing impressive social and economic growth, scientific and technological progress, and cultural and humanitarian development, while at the same time preserving its unique centuries-old traditions. India has deserved influence on the international stage and works actively to help maintain stability and security in Asia and around the world in general.

We value very highly the privileged strategic partnership between Russia and India, which rests on the longstanding friendship between our peoples and our substantial political dialogue that stands out for its constructive nature, mutual trust, and the common positions that we take on the main issues on the international agenda.

The relations between our countries have great potential in many areas, including in trade, military technical cooperation, science, and culture. We hope that the Russian-Indian summit that will take place later this year in Moscow will become a big milestone on the road to further enriching our bilateral ties with forward-looking and promising new projects.”
