Dmitry Medvedev congratulated President of India Pratibha Patil and Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh on India’s national holiday, the Republic Day.
The message reads, in part:
“In over six decades of national independence, your country has become the world's largest democracy with a vibrant economy and social sphere. As a result, modern India enjoys the deserved authority and respect of the international community.
Russia intends to continue to fully develop our special relationship and privileged strategic partnership, consistently implementing the agreements reached in the course of the annual summits, which have now become a tradition.
Due to our joint efforts, the Russian-Indian dialogue continues to develop rapidly, and the varied links in trade, the economy, science, technology and the humanitarian spheres are filled with new promising projects and initiatives.
I am confident that constructive engagement across the entire spectrum of bilateral and international agenda helps to fully develop the rich potential of our close mutually beneficial relationship for the benefit of the Russian and Indian nations, and to build a just, democratic and secure world.”
