Vladimir Putin and the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko laid wreaths at the Victory Memorial in the centre of Minsk and honoured the victims of the Great Patriotic War by a minute of silence.
Earlier on the same day the two presidents took part in memorial events dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi occupation.
