An official ceremony to welcome Dmitry Medvedev was held at the presidential palace in Damascus by President of Syria Bashar al-Assad.
The two leaders introduced their delegations to one another.
Later, Dmitry Medvedev and Bashar al-Assad had a brief meeting followed by an official dinner in honour of the Russian President hosted on behalf of the Syrian President at the Qasr al-Shaab palace.
