The four presidents discussed trade and economic cooperation opportunities, joint projects in the energy, construction, and agriculture sectors, and implementation of the agreements reached during their talks in Sochi. The fight against terrorism and drug trafficking was the subject of particular attention.

Also discussed were ways to stabilise the situation in Afghanistan and in the Afghan-Pakistani border regions, and ways to foster economic recovery and development in the region with the help of the  Background information Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and the  Background information Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) Collective Security Treaty Organisation. 

Dmitry Medvedev, Hamid Karzai, Asif Ali Zardari, and Emomali Rahmon signed a joint statement following the talks.

Mr Medvedev later held bilateral talks with Hamid Karzai and Asif Ali Zardari.
