Meeting with Head of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Yevkurov

January 16, 2017, The Kremlin, Moscow

Mr Yevkurov briefed the President on the implementation and results of the federal targeted programme for Ingushetia’s socioeconomic development over 2010–2016.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin: What is the situation in the republic? The federal targeted programme’s implementation ended in 2016.

Head of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Yevkurov: Yes, with your great help the programme was approved and we completed its implementation with good result in 2016. The programme produced good results and progress. I would like to give a brief summary of the programme’s results.

We had good results for 2016. Our gross regional product was up by 11.7 percent, agricultural production increased by 116 percent, industrial output was up by 100.6 percent, and budget revenue increased by 39 percent. This was all thanks to the federal targeted programme.

Before the programme’s implementation, we had enough preschool education facilities only for 7 percent of children, but now 22 percent of children are covered. We now have no schools where children study in three shifts, and we have reduced by 22 percent the number of schools where children study in two shifts. A total of 139 facilities were built as part of the programme. They include engineering infrastructure, and we have practically completed resettlement of people from areas affected by landslides and have provided housing for displaced people.

You asked us to put particular emphasis on facilities of economic importance. We acted on this and in February expect the Industry and Trade Minister’s visit for the opening of a factory producing energy efficient lightbulbs, a textiles factory, and a factory producing radiators. These three businesses were all built with the Industry and Trade Ministry’s help.

This project has enabled us to bring down registered unemployment from 22 percent to 11 percent.

Vladimir Putin: You have created more than 7,000 new jobs.

Yunus-Bek Yevkurov: Yes, that’s right.

Vladimir Putin: Total financing for the programme was around 26 billion rubles?

Yunus-Bek Yevkurov: The original plan was for 32 billion, but this was later reduced and total financing came to 26 billion rubles.
