The Astrakhan Region Governor briefed the President on the social and economic situation in the region.
According to the Governor, in the nine months of this year industrial production growth amounted to 108 percent, regional product went up by 101 percent, while investment this year will remain at the same level as last year at about 112 billion rubles. Among major projects under implementation are the Vladimir Filanovsky Oil and Gas Field in the Caspian Sea, modernisation of the RusSol salt production and refining company on Lake Baskunchak, an import replacement project to produce Russian tomato paste and a project to create a free industrial economic zone called Lotos on the basis of a shipyard owned by the United Shipbuilding Corporation.
The conversation also touched upon healthcare in the region, particularly the work of the cardiology, oncology and diagnostic centres.
