Vladimir Putin made a telephone call to Raul Castro, President of the Council of State and the Council of Ministers of Cuba, to express his own and the Russian people’s deep condolences on the death of the leader of the Cuban Republic Fidel Castro.
Vladimir Putin noted that Fidel Castro was an outstanding politician, a patriot who selflessly served his Motherland, who had won the love of the Cuban people and the respect of the international community.
The President of Russia stressed the great contribution made by Fidel Castro to establishing relations of friendship and strategic partnership between Russia and Cuba.
Raul Castro expressed his gratitude to the Russian leader for his support and confirmed that the course towards further developing comprehensive communication with Russia will remain unaltered.
