Vladimir Putin met with President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic Choummaly Sayasone to discuss prospects for the development of bilateral relations.

Vladimir Putin sent his condolences to President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Choummaly Sayasone, following the Lao Airlines plane crash near the city of Pakse that killed all people onboard.

Following the Russian-Lao talks, the two leaders adopted a declaration on strategic partnership in the Asia-Pacific region between Russia and the Lao People's Democratic Republic. A number of other documents, in particular, an agreement on cooperation in healthcare and tourism, were signed in the presence of Dmitry Medvedev and Choummaly Sayasone.

At Dmitry Medvedev’s invitation, President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Laos Choummaly Sayasone will make an official visit to Russia on October 12–16.
