The conference was organised by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs as part of the annual Russian Business Week.
Sergei Dubik, Adviser to the President in charge of international cooperation in the fight against corruption, spoke at a conference on Government and Business in the Fight Against Corruption: International Standards and Russian Experience.
In his speech, Mr Dubik noted that businesses in different countries build their anti-corruption policy in accordance with international standards in the field of anti-corruption and good corporate governance. These standards are developed within the framework of the UN, OECD, APEC, the International Chamber of Commerce and other relevant organisations.
The Presidential Adviser emphasised that Russia has established a solid legal framework for an effective anti-corruption campaign, including in business entities. Thus, Article 13.3 of the Federal Law On Combating Corruption No. 273-FZ of December 25, 2008 obliges organisations to develop and adopt anti-corruption measures. These include charging departments or staff members with the responsibility for preventing corruption and other offenses, developing and implementing procedures for proper corporate governance, conflict prevention and resolution of conflicts of interest. Sergei Dubik urged local businesses to fully comply with all the requirements of the law.
According to the Presidential Adviser, the Anti-Corruption Charter of Russian Business and the roadmap for its implementation have been highly praised by international experts. Now it is important to focus on raising the business community’s awareness about the Charter’s provisions and creating incentives for Russian companies to comply with its requirements.
