Maria Lvova-Belova visited Karachayevo-Circassian Republic

Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights Maria Lvova-Belova visited the Karachayevo-Circassian Republic as part of the national inspection of the system for the prevention of Social Orphanhood. The Commissioner for Children’s Rights met with Head of the region Rashid Temrezov and held a meeting with heads of relevant agencies and institutions.

The Commissioner and the Head of the Republic discussed the results of the national inspection in the region. Earlier, the inspection specialists analysed the management and financial models and audited 21 institutions and organisations in the region. The Commissioner emphasised the importance of providing timely support for families in difficult life circumstances.

Head of Karachayevo-Circassia Rashid Temrezov noted that the authorities of the republic place great emphasis on supporting orphans and children left without parental care, families with many children, and older people.

Maria Lvova-Belova held a working meeting with heads of agencies and institutions of the regional system for the prevention of social orphanhood, where she gave a number of recommendations.

Head of the Karachayevo-Circassian Republic Rashid Temrezov and the Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights took part in the opening of the Yury Gagarin Cultural Development Centre after major overhaul. It can accommodate 1,200 children at a time, and all classes – from sewing to dance and theatre studios – are free of charge.

In addition, Maria Lvova-Belova held a personal reception of citizens.
