Presidential Aide Igor Levitin chaired the first meeting of the Commission for the Development of General Aviation and GLONASS-Based Navigation Information Technology after its reform and the approval of its new regulations by Presidential executive order.
The meeting was attended by Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov, Rostec Corporation CEO Sergei Chemezov, representatives of federal and regional executive authorities, state corporations, space and transport industries, navigation information technology and public and professional aviation organisations.
In light of the new tasks set by the President, the participants discussed the guidelines for the Commission’s activities in the sphere of GLONASS-based navigation information technology, development prospects of unmanned aviation systems and their integration into a common airspace.
Seeking to tighten flight security without affecting growth in the private aviation sector, the participants discussed and adopted decisions to improve the certification of general aviation liners and to monitor their airworthiness, as well as the training and certification system for general aviation pilots.
