Vladimir Putin signed instructions following the joint meeting of Council for Interethnic Relations and Council for the Russian Language that took place on May 19, 2015.
Among other things, the President instructed the Government to provide additional support in the translation into Russian of works of literature created in other languages of the peoples of Russia and to regularly monitor the state and development of those languages.
The President also pointed out the need to ensure conditions for training translators of literature from the languages of the peoples of the Russian Federation at federal institutions of higher learning.
The Council of Ministers jointly with regional authorities are to regularly monitor the state of the languages of the peoples of the Russian Federation and their development, to summarise the implementation of the language policy in the regions and make proposals on improving appropriate legislation.
A section of the document deals with the development of a set of measures aimed at supporting and developing print and electronic media in the languages of the peoples of the Russian Federation.
Besides, the instructions also speak of the need to make amendments that would help fully realise the rights to study Russian and the native languages of the peoples of the Russian Federation.
