October 18, 2013

First Deputy President of the Supreme Court Pyotr Serkov and Director General of the Supreme Court’s Judicial Department Alexander Gusev reported on anti-corruption measures taken by judges and court workers.

According to the statistics presented, the courts found 6,000 people guilty of corruption-related crimes in 2012 and delivered 3,600 guilty verdicts in corruption-related cases over the first six months of 2013.

First Deputy Justice Minister Alexander Smirnov and Deputy Prosecutor General Sabir Kekhlerov reported on the results of anti-corruption expert evaluations of laws and draft laws. The reports noted that the number of cases in which the expert evaluations detected factors that could encourage corruption was down by more than a third compared to last year.

Labour and Social Protection Minister Maxim Topilin briefed the President on the implementation of legal provisions allowing dismissal for loss of confidence, and on measures to improve this work.

Over the first six months of 2013, 163 employees were dismissed for loss of confidence from federal government bodies, and 32 employees of regional or local government bodies were dismissed on these grounds.

The Council’s Presidium discussed preparations for the Council’s next meeting, scheduled for October 30, 2013, and set implementing state anti-corruption policy and measures to enhance it as the main topic on the agenda.

The Presidium also examined the results of anti-corruption checks carried out by the Presidential Executive Office.
