Dmitry Medvedev had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov.
The President of Russia sincerely congratulated Mr Tibilov on officially taking the office of President and wished him success in his work in this important position for the benefit of the brotherly South Ossetian people.
Russia confirmed its readiness to continue providing support and all-around assistance to South Ossetia in its national and socioeconomic development, and to strengthen bilateral relations, founded on solid traditions of friendship, between the two nations.
Mr Medvedev invited Mr Tibilov to visit Russia; specific dates will be determined through diplomatic channels.
