Meeting on flood relief in Russia’s Far East

September 2, 2016, Vladivostok

Vladimir Putin held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister – Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev, Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov and Governor of Primorye Territory Vladimir Miklushevsky to discuss the situation in certain regions of the Far East affected by floods.

During the meeting, the President spoke of the need to establish contact with the villages located in the zone of flooding, and ensure water and food supplies to the affected areas.

Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences to the family of Chief of the Emergency Situations Ministry Department in Primorye Territory Oleg Fedyura, who lost his life in the flood relief efforts.

Following the meeting the President instructed Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev to draft a Government resolution providing for comprehensive assistance to the regions and people in difficult situations. The regional authorities and the Emergencies Ministry were instructed to determine the scale of aid needed as soon as possible.
