Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences to President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel Fattah el-Sisi over deaths resulting from an explosion near the Coptic Cathedral in Cairo.
”I am shocked by the atrocious terrorist attack that took place in Cairo. It is especially tragic that the victims included women and children,“ the President said in his message of condolences.
Vladimir Putin emphasised that the tragedy once again proves the necessity for resolute joint efforts to combat international terrorism, which sows death and destruction and strives to derail peace and accord between people of different religions. The President reconfirmed that Russia is ready to continue close cooperation with Egypt to counter this threat.
Mr Putin passed on words of sympathy and support to the victims’ families and friends and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the attack.
