Joint meeting of the Council of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Central Federal District and the Central Federal District Civic Chamber

February 17, 2016

Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Magomedsalam Magomedov took part in a joint meeting of the Council of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Central Federal District and the Central Federal District Civic Chamber.

The meeting participants discussed regional aspects of relations between the state authorities and civil society institutions.

Opening the meeting, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Central Federal District Alexander Beglov noted the increase in civil society activity in the regions that make up the federal district and more effective work between state agencies and civil society organisations on carrying out public projects.

In his remarks at the meeting, Mr Magomedov noted how important it is to get civil society organisations actively involved in work to reach the goals set by the State Ethnic Policy Strategy through to 2025, and said that regional ethnic policy strategies should take into account particular local circumstances.

Mr Magomedov noted the emergence in 2015 of new kinds of mass public events that strengthen national unity, in particular, events such as the Immortal Regiment, which was part of the 70th anniversary of Victory Day celebrations, and the increasingly wide-scale celebrations of the National Unity Day holiday.

The meeting ended by reviewing results of a competition among Central Federal District media outlets for best coverage of public projects and civil society initiatives, and presented awards to the winners. Other participants in the meeting included Head of the Presidential Directorate for Civil Service and Personnel Anton Fyodorov, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, governors of the regions making up the Central Federal District, government officials, and representatives of the Central Federal District Civic Chamber.
