Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu on the initiative of the Israeli side.
The two leaders exchanged views on the Russian President’s decision to lift the ban on shipments of C-300 air defence missile systems to Iran.
In connection with the concern expressed by Mr Netanyahu regarding the lifting of the embargo, Vladimir Putin explained the logic behind the actions of the Russian leadership in this situation. In particular, he highlighted the fact that the tactical and technical specifications of the C-300 system make it a purely defensive weapon; therefore, it would not pose any threat to the security of Israel or other countries in the Middle East.
The discussion also covered other pressing international and regional issues.
