May 7, 2021

Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of the State of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu on the initiative of the Israeli side.

Vladimir Putin and Benjamin Netanyahu exchanged greetings on the 76th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Since Victory Day is also an official holiday in Israel, the President of Russia extended his wishes for good health and well-being to the war veterans residing there. It is important that Russia and Israel together counter attempts to revise the results of World War II, glorify Nazism and deny the Holocaust.

The parties reviewed some current issues of bilateral cooperation, in particular, they expressed readiness to boost trade and economic cooperation and to soon hold the next meeting of the intergovernmental commission.

The leaders touched on a number of issues on the international agenda with a focus on Syria settlement matters. Benjamin Netanyahu spoke about Israel’s contacts with officials in Kiev.

It was agreed to continue the dialogue between security councils, as well as the military, foreign policy and economy agencies.
