Governor of Novgorod Region Sergei Mitin briefed Vladimir Putin in a telephone conversation on all of the circumstances of the tragedy.
The President gave the instruction to provide all necessary assistance to the victims and work together with law enforcement agencies to establish the fire’s causes.
Mr Putin expressed his condolences to the families of those killed in the tragedy and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
A fire broke out last night in the Oksochi psycho-neurological institution in Novgorod Region. According to preliminary reports, there were 60 people in the building at the time. The fire claimed more than 30 lives.
