Vladimir Putin had telephone conversations with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.
The presidents discussed cooperation matters in the context of the Eurasian Economic Union’s establishment, including coordinating measures to prevent unauthorised supplies to Russia via Kazakhstan and Belarus of goods from countries that have come under recent Russian Government sanctions.
The heads of state also exchanged views on possible formats for international efforts to bring about a swift peaceful settlement to the internal political crisis in Ukraine. The three leaders expressed their serious concern over the serious humanitarian consequences of the military operations the Kiev authorities are pursuing in southeast Ukraine. Mr Putin briefed his colleagues on a Russian humanitarian mission that has been sent in coordination with the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Ukrainian authorities.
The three presidents agreed to continue their contacts.
