The two leaders discussed further prospects for the Syrian peace process as they pertain to the results of the 6^th international meeting on Syria, which took place in Astana on September 14–15. They stated that the Astana format has proved its efficiency and contributes to easing tensions and improving the humanitarian situation in Syria.

Vladimir Putin and Nursultan Nazarbayev also touched upon some current issues of bilateral cooperation, including how to improve integration in high-tech industries. They also agreed on a schedule of upcoming contacts at various levels.
