Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev at the Kazakhstani side’s initiative.
Nursultan Nazarbayev congratulated Vladimir Putin on the successful holding of the Syrian National Dialogue Congress in Sochi on January 30, 2018. It was stressed that the implementation of the Congress decisions will be a hefty contribution to reaching a political settlement in Syria under the aegis of the UN. In this context, the need for continuing efforts in the Astana format was noted.
The two leaders also discussed a number of current issues to further step up bilateral cooperation, including in the field of digital technologies. The results of the Digital Agenda in the Globalisation Era forum, held in Almaty on February 2, 1018, were highly praised.
The parties agreed on the schedule of forthcoming contacts.
