Vladimir Putin congratulated Sergio Mattarella on his election as President of the Italian Republic.
In his message of greeting, the Russian President noted that relations between Russia and Italy rest on traditions of friendship and mutual respect that unite Russians and Italians, and on the strong foundation of effective trade and economic cooperation. Vladimir Putin also highly assessed the two countries’ experience in coordinating their efforts to resolve important international matters.
The President of Russia expressed confidence that the positive potential of Russian-Italian relations in all areas in the interests of both peoples will be maintained and multiplied to ensure stability, security and wellbeing on the European continent and in the world at large.
