Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Italy Matteo Renzi at the Italian side’s initiative.
The two politicians had a constructive discussion of a number of issues of the Russian-Italian cooperation, including interaction in the trade and economic sphere. Both sides confirmed the importance of continuing joint work for the purpose of implementing mutually beneficial energy projects.
During the exchange of views on the current international problems, special attention was paid to prospects of settling the Syrian conflict and the situation developing in the relations between Iran and the Saudi Arabia. In this context, the Russian President and Italian Prime Minister stressed the importance of close coordination of efforts in the fight against international terrorism.
Vladimir Putin and Matteo Renzi also discussed the schedule of future bilateral contacts at various levels.
