Anna Kuznetsova and Valentina Matviyenko discussed the priorities of the children's rights commissioners for 2017, including Presidential instructions regarding families.
According to Anna Kuznetsova, a number of socially important topics related to the state policy on maternal health, family and childhood requires attention and effort in conjunction with the legislators. This will make it possible to make significant progress in protecting family values.
The meeting participants focused particularly on the Parliament currently reviewing a draft law on abandoned infants, submitted to the State Duma by the Federation Council Speaker in conjunction with a group of senators. Valentina Matviyenko pointed out that the social support system for children whose parents are unknown must be exactly the same as that for the children who lost both parents or the only breadwinner in the family. The draft law was put forward by many regional children's rights commissioners and legislative assemblies of the Russian regions.
